Katie Davis, EdD, is a professor and Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs at the University of Washington Information School, where she also holds an appointment in the College of Education and co-directs the Center for Digital Youth. She earned her doctorate in Human Development and Education from Harvard University in 2011. Her research examines how digital technologies influence learning, creativity, relationships, and human development, particularly among children and adolescents.
Davis's work combines developmental psychology, human-computer interaction, and educational technology to investigate how digital environments can be designed to support users' developmental and social needs. Her projects include *NatureCollections*, a mobile application encouraging children to explore the natural world, and more recent research examining young people's interactions with generative AI and chatbots.
Davis has published more than 80 academic papers and authored or coauthored three books. Her 2023 book, Technology's Child, examines how the effects of digital technologies vary across developmental stages and how design decisions influence children's experiences. Her earlier work, including The App Generation, explores the relationship between digital media, identity, creativity, and social interaction.
